Using Clickable’s Firefox Widget For Instant Account Snapshots (Tool Tip)

Many search marketers manage their campaigns while also handling numerous other responsibilities, from Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to print advertising—to say nothing of the non-marketing aspects of a business. If days filled with constant multi-tasking sound familiar, you should give Clickable’s Firefox widget a try. It provides a dynamic summary of your account right at the bottom of your browser, including an overview of recommendations generated by the ActEngine and trend reports for metrics like “Revenue” and “Cost per Conversion.” You can get a snapshot of your account in just a few seconds, and, if you need to update your campaigns, you have one-click access to the Clickable Dashboard.
Installing the widget is easy.

First, go to the “Settings” tab and click on “Download Widgets” in the “Communications” section.

From there, click on the link “Firefox Add Ons for Clickable” and a pop-up window will appear with more information about the widget, and a button to download it.

Click on the “DOWNLOAD NOW” link to begin the installation. (Depending on your security settings, you may need to grant permission for the installation by clicking an “Allow” button at the upper-right.)

Click on the “Install Now” button to continue.

The widget will be downloaded and installed in a few seconds, and the “Add-ons” window will pop up. You’ll need to restart your browser to actually see the new widget, so just click on “Restart Firefox” at the upper-right of the “Add-ons” box.

Once Firefox restarts, you’ll see the widget at the bottom right of your browser. In most cases, the widget will recognize your account and immediately log you in. If this doesn’t happen (for instance, if you have cookies disabled) then you’ll need to log into your account. Just click on the green Clickable arrow at the right of the widget, and you’ll see a window with a number of options, including “Log In.” (I’m already logged in, so mine gives the option to “Log Out” instead.)

You can also use this menu to go to the Dashboard of your Clickable account, refresh the data displayed in the widget, or switch to a different search marketing account.

Once you’ve logged in and selected the search marketing account you want information about, you’ll see a summary of the recommendations generated for your account. As you can see above, I have 26 High Severity recommendations to review, 34 Medium Severity recommendations and 31 Low Severity recommendations. If you mouse over any of those, you’ll see more details about the recommendations for that particular severity level.

As you can see, the Medium Severity recommendations for my account should generate 4632 additional clicks and $153.27 in additional revenue for the campaigns in my account. In addition, you can also see trend graphs for numerous account metrics, including “Revenue,” “Cost,” “Cost/Conversion” and “Revenue/Conversion.” The default view displays “Revenue” and “Cost.” To see the other two metrics, click on the dark blue roll-over to display “Cost/Conv.” and “Revenue/Conv.” instead. If you mouse-over any of these metrics, you will see a 30 day trend graph for that metric.

When you’re ready to review your recommendations in more detail or make other updates to your campaigns, just click anywhere on the widget for immediate access to the Clickable Dashboard.

Did the widget change? I am no longer getting the red/orange/yellow portion of the bar. The part that I found to be the most useful.

Well... it came back a day or two after posting my Q. However, now I have upgraded to the latest version of FireFox and it is not compatible. Any news on an update? Really like the widget, it's very handy. Keep up the great work.

Robert,

A bug was responsible for the colored recommendation bars temporarily disappearing, which was fixed, as you indicated. Apologies for the inconvenience.

We have tested the widget on FireFox 3.5 and it is working as expected. FireFox, however, does release minor version upgrades frequently and those occasionally cause unintended UI and compatibility issues.  Typically Firefox corrects these quickly in a subsequent minor release.

If you are still having issues, please contact Clickable Support: support (at) clickable (dot) com.

Regards,

Vernon
