Poll Result: More Marketers Use Facebook Ads To Direct Users Away From Facebook

Posted by: Max Kalehoff on Jun 01, 2010 Leave a Comment

We recently asked readers: "Where do you direct people after they click on your company's ads within Facebook?" Out of 39 respondents, 46% of advertisers sent traffic directly to their company's primary Website or external landing page, 31% directed people to their company's Facebook page, and 23% did not advertise on Facebook.

If your goal is to drive a direct-response conversion -- like a commerce transaction or filling out a lead form -- external landing pages often are more effective than Facebook pages. On the other hand, Facebook pages can be very effective for driving engagement with your company's fans through ongoing interaction and drip marketing programs. This latter tactic usually works best if you have a dedicated person inside your company (versus an external agency) to drive frequent and authentic interaction with your fan base.
