Position: Visual / Interaction Designer

We are looking for a creative and talented designer who is passionate about designing world-class products and online user experiences. It’s a great opportunity for someone skilled in solving complex user interface design challenges in an elegant, aesthetic and simple manner. You will contribute to the full web application and interface design lifecycle, taking concepts from ideas through schematics to final stunning visual designs, and potentially prototypes, HTML and CSS as well. Help shape our future product direction, working with an experienced design and engineering team. This is a permanent (or contract-to-permanent) position.
The position is based in New York
Responsibilities
- Design all aspects of the product UI and user experience to
achieve business objectives.
- Focus on creating great visual design, but be able to produce
interaction models, user flows, wireframes, style guides and
interactive prototypes as well.
- Rapidly iterate on design ideas to narrow-down on the best
possible solution.
- Work closely with the product and engineering team to challenge
the effectiveness of the UI, and dynamically integrate
feedback.
- Make a big contribution to developing market-leading products
that users love.
Qualifications
- Degree in interaction design, graphic design, web design, or
applied-creative studies.
- 3+ years experience as a hands-on interactive designer at a web
technology company or agency.
- Experience working on web product and application interfaces.
(Marketing, advertising, analytics, data visualization and social,
mobile applications and technologies a plus.)
- Thorough understanding of graphic design principles, including
page layout, color theory, and typography.
- Highly proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop,
Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
- Proficient in HTML and CSS. (JavaScript skills nice to
have)
- Good understanding of user-centric web design and current with
the potential and limitations of the latest web technologies and
techniques (e.g. HTML5, CSS3, Responsive Web Design, Mobile
Apps).
- Experience with customer and usability research and translating
findings into product solutions.
- Must be a detail-oriented self-starter who is not afraid to
speak-up and is able to manage multiple projects and complete jobs
under tight deadlines
- Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills.
- Must have a portfolio. Online or PDF ok.
