Automated bid management

akelios wrote:

Hi!

Can anybody explain how Clickable manages bids? Here's the situation:

We've set bid management recomendations to be accepted automatically. With some keywords it seems to work, but, as for many others, there seems to be no actions at all. AdWords marks quite a number of our words to have bids below first page bid, but Clickable gives no recommendations for these words at all. Moreover, we've set position preference for our ads. Again, several words are marked by AdWords as those with bids being too low to let the ads showing up on our prefered positions. And again, no recommendations for this.

So, the question: How this thing works? What's the principle?

Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply. How does Clickable's ActEngine manage bids?

ActEngine is an intelligence database that consists of algorithms that constantly analyze the data and performance in your search ad network accounts. To your point, we've identified a number of areas where we need to improve the ActEngine. We now are investing heavily in development of new algorithms and recommendations and plan to release 35-40 new ones by the end of the year -- we would love your feedback once they surface. To better understand the fundamentals of the ActEngine, we have a good post here. (And for others reading this post and new to ActEngine, we have product user functionality here.)

Max,

I like the ACTEngine's ability to review the various components it looks at.  But, when it comes to bid management, my choice is your Bulk Edit tool.  This allows me to look at all accounts or filter as I need.  One feature that would really be helpful is to allow the creation and saving of various filter sets.  For example, you used the following example in a YouTube video:

Potential Fraud Clicks

If CTR increases by 30% and Conversions decrease by 30% within the past 30 days, pause the keyword.

If you could allow the saving of filter settings including the accounts, ad groups, etc, these settings could be done one time, saved and quickly used again and again.  The benefit is these filters would work across accounts.  The "My Suggestions" currently does not allow this.  So, Bulk Editing is the way to go for bidding.

While I am on the "suggestion trail", I suggest that the intial screen not load all of your data.  Very seldom do I use all data.  Instead, I remove inactive data and apply filters.  So, having to wait for the data to load is not needed on my end and is taking unneeded bandwidth from you.

If you could apply these two updates, for me, it would double the value of Clickables.
